Dancer Space Standards -
Planning for Conventions
In order
to plan the allocation of rooms and space for various levels
and kinds of dancing, it is necessary to allow sufficient
space for the activity.
The following
space standards were used for the Canadian National Square
& Round Dance Convention in Ottawa in 1998 and were
found to work well.
- Square
Dancing Each square dancer is allocated
12.5 square feet (100 square feet per square), except
for a
wheelchair
dancer who is allocated 25 square feet (200 square feet
per square).
- Round
Dancing Each round dancer is allocated
50 square feet (100 square feet per couple)
- Clogging
Each
clogger is allocated 16 square feet.
